Elsewhere Surf Camp Weligama

Elsewhere Surf Camps started in 2015 after the founders spent years exploring surf camps across Portugal, India, Nicaragua, and Morocco. They landed in Weligama and built what they consider the ideal surf camp experience combining serious surfing with a strong social atmosphere. The camp sits right on Weligama beach, known as one of the most beginner-friendly surf spots in Sri Lanka. Each day follows a set rhythm: a 7am comprehensive surf lesson lasting about two hours, followed by an hour of theory that rotates between video analysis, pool practice, and gym technique work. Afternoons include guided free surf sessions where guests can practice what they learned in the morning. The property spreads across multiple floors with the gym and yoga studio on level two, and the rooftop bar and restaurant at the top with views over the Indian Ocean. The Endorfines fitness area includes weights, yoga mats, balance boards, and recovery facilities like ice baths and sport massage. Staff run two yoga classes daily at 7am and 2pm. Beyond surfing, Elsewhere has built a reputation for its party scene and social events. They organize nightly activities ranging from trivia and karaoke to proper party nights, plus weekly Friday BBQs with beer pong tournaments. Optional day trips include whale watching, visits to the turtle hatchery, tours of old Galle town, and safaris at Yalla National Park. The surf team includes both local Sri Lankan instructors and international coaches who have been working the south coast breaks since 2014. They maintain small group sizes with a maximum of five guests per instructor for beginners and four for intermediate and advanced surfers at reef breaks.
