Surf Camp - Ajo Natura

Ajo Natura sits on the rugged Cantabrian coast in northern Spain, in an area that remains refreshingly untouched by mass tourism. The camp emerged from the merger of Camping Playa de Ajo and Ajo Surf School, bringing together over three decades of combined experience in hospitality and surf instruction. The setup here is designed around getting people comfortable in the water. All instructors hold Spanish Surfing Federation certifications (Tecnicos Deportivos en Surf Level 1 and 2), and groups are capped at six students per instructor. Michel Velasco, a former Spanish champion, leads the coaching team. They work the beach breaks around Ajo, which catch consistent Atlantic swell and offer good conditions for learning. The facility spans more than 18,000 square meters of natural coastal land, with accommodation ranging from shared options during camp weeks to a private Surf House for groups and families wanting their own space. Meals are covered under their full-board arrangement, keeping things simple so guests can focus on surfing. Beyond the waves, they have skate facilities on site, which many camps use for cross-training when conditions are flat. The location in Cantabria means green hills meeting the sea, cooler water than the south, and an authentic Spanish coastal vibe without the crowds found elsewhere along the coast.
