Loredo Surf House

Loredo Surf House sits in the quiet village of Loredo, wrapped by forest and positioned just a short walk from the beach. It's one of four properties operated by Latas Surf, a well-established surf school that's been teaching people to surf in Cantabria since the early 2000s. The house works differently from the other Latas properties. Rather than a full-service surf camp with meals included, Loredo operates as comfortable accommodation with an excellent shared kitchen. Each room gets designated fridge space and storage, and you can cook from early morning until late evening. This setup suits travelers who prefer independence - you're not locked into meal schedules or dining with the whole camp if that's not your thing. Rooms range from budget-friendly 6-bed dorms to private options that work for couples, friends, or families. Some private rooms have en-suite bathrooms; others share. The common areas include a garden with a wave observatory - a raised deck where you can check surf conditions over morning coffee - plus ping pong and spaces to hang out. The location feels genuinely peaceful. You're surrounded by forest rather than tourist development, yet the beach is just five minutes away on foot. A skatepark and pump track sit right across the road, which helps on flat days or when you want to work on balance without getting wet. Surf lessons run through the main Latas Surf school, with certified instructors taking groups to whichever break has the best conditions that day. The Cantabrian coast offers variety - beach breaks at Somo and Loredo for learning, plus reef breaks and points for more advanced surfers on bigger swells. Equipment rental is available whether or not you book lessons.
