Layback Surfcamp is Europe's first surf camp designed specifically for intermediate surfers. Located in Valdovino, Galicia, on Spain's northern Atlantic coast, the camp offers intensive coaching programs focused on technique refinement. With a maximum of 8 students per coach, daily video analysis, and access to over 8 different surf spots away from crowds, it's the ideal destination for surfers ready to progress their skills. The season runs from late March to late October.
Founded by passionate surfers Tobi and Michi, Layback Surfcamp fills a gap in the market for intermediate-level surf coaching. While most camps cater to beginners, Layback welcomes surfers who can already ride green waves and want to improve their bottom turns, cutbacks, and overall technique. The coaching methodology combines on-water instruction with movement theory, biomechanics education, and surfskate training using YOW boards. Video analysis sessions help identify areas for improvement and track progress throughout the week. The camp's location in Galicia provides access to consistent Atlantic swells hitting a north-facing coastline with multiple bays and points, often with empty lineups rarely found elsewhere in Europe. The cozy surf house features multiple relaxation areas, a living room with pellet stove for cooler months, garden with chill-out zones, and complimentary equipment including surfboards, wetsuits, skateboards, and bicycles.
