Latas Surf started over 13 years ago when a group of friends decided to share their passion for surfing and the laid-back Cantabrian lifestyle. Today it has grown into one of the largest surf camp operations in Northern Spain, with four properties scattered across Somo and Loredo and a reputation as the #1 rated Surf House on TripAdvisor. The main Latas Surf House is the hub of everything. It is a sprawling property that can host up to 86 guests, with group rooms for solo travelers and budget seekers, family rooms for those wanting more privacy, and common areas that bring everyone together. There is a full restaurant serving three meals a day with options for vegetarians, vegans, and those with allergies. The bar and terrace become the social center each evening. Beyond just beds and waves, Latas has built out a proper campus. There is a gym for pre-surf warm-ups, a mini ramp for skating, beach volleyball, ping pong, billiards, hammocks, and Netflix zones for the inevitable flat days. The surf school runs year-round with certified Level 1 and Level 2 instructors who have been surfing these beaches for years. Classes cap at 8 students per instructor and cover everything from complete beginners to advanced surfers working on their turns. Somo and Loredo beaches offer over 7 kilometers of sand with waves for everyone. The conditions are consistent enough that there are rideable waves around 300 days a year. For those wanting to branch out, yoga sessions run morning and evening at Arena Surf Hotel, and the local skatepark has a pump track for working on flow between sessions. The team speaks Spanish, English, German, and French, and they have hosted everyone from solo backpackers to school groups to families with kids.
