Laga Surf Camp has been running surf programs in the Basque Country for years, and their hostel in Ibarrangelu town center is the social heart of the operation. The building was completely renovated to create a comfortable base for surfers of all levels.
The hostel spreads across three floors with wheelchair accessibility via elevator. Accommodation is dorm-style with bunk niches, each bed coming with sheets, quilts, and blankets. Every guest gets their own locker to store gear and valuables. Bathrooms are shared per floor, with enclosed showers and some private bathroom options available.
The ground floor has a salon-kitchen-dining area where guests share meals and stories. Breakfast is included with every stay, and the fully-equipped kitchen is open for guest use. Outside, there's a terrace, garden, and pergola area with seating for hanging out between sessions.
Surf lessons run daily with certified instructors at two locations: Laga Beach (which holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications) and Laida-Mundaka. Courses cover all levels from complete beginner to advanced, with 2-hour daily sessions and all equipment included in the package. The schools are equipped with quality boards ranging from foam learner boards to performance shortboards.
The town of Ibarrangelu has everything you need within walking distance. The supermarket is 20 meters away, pharmacy 10 meters, and buses to the beach run every 30 minutes during summer. The hostel is closed December through February, operating March through November with high season rates in July, August, and holidays.
