Dreamsea Surf Camp Cantabria brings the surf camp lifestyle to Northern Spain's stunning coastline. Set up in a campsite near Playa de Oyambre, guests stay in bell tents - either glamping style for couples and families, or shared tents for budget-conscious travelers. The camp runs from mid-June through mid-September, offering daily surf lessons, yoga sessions, and excursions to the Picos de Europa mountains.
Dreamsea started in Cantabria back in 2015 as a small surf camp with a simple idea: combine good waves with good people in a relaxed outdoor setting. What began in Northern Spain has since grown into a network of camps across Europe and beyond, but Cantabria remains where it all started.
The camp sits within Camping El Helguero, about ten minutes from Playa de Oyambre where lessons take place. Accommodation comes in two flavors - glamping tents with comfortable beds, bedding, towels and a welcome bottle of wine for those wanting privacy and comfort, or shared tents in the heart of camp for solo travelers and groups looking to meet new people.
The surf program caters to all levels. Complete beginners start with the basics - paddling, standing up, catching whitewash. Intermediate surfers work on wave selection, trimming, and front/backside turns. More experienced surfers get video analysis and coaching to refine technique. Lessons run in groups of around eight students per instructor for beginners, dropping to four-to-one ratios for advanced sessions.
Beyond surfing, the camp offers daily yoga, hiking trips to the Picos de Europa, cycling along the coast, and local food experiences featuring Cantabrian cheese and wine. The on-site facilities include a pool, cafe-restaurant, tiki bar, mini ramp, and chill-out areas. Meals are included - breakfast, packed lunch for the beach, and dinner (except Wednesdays when the optional excursion runs).
