The camp offers week-long surf programs with 14 hours of personalized instruction, accommodation with pool and rooftop terrace, plus surf safaris to explore the island's diverse coastline. Run by local surf expert Rafael, who knows all the best waves around Gran Canaria, from the consistent beach breaks near Las Palmas to the hidden surf gems scattered around the island.
Gran Canaria has earned its nickname "Europe's Hawaii" for good reason - year-round swells, warm water, and a variety of breaks suitable for all levels. KYO Surf Camp bases itself in Las Palmas, the vibrant capital city that combines surf culture with historic charm. The camp's villa sits in a safe, picturesque neighborhood within walking distance of the beach and about 30 minutes from the old town of Vegueta with its historic architecture, restaurants, and shopping. The house itself features five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a pool with sun beds, and a spacious roof terrace overlooking the city. Each bedroom has key access for privacy, and the entire house has WiFi. Lessons follow a structured approach: theory sessions on the beach, warm-up exercises, then in-water practice with softboards ranging from 6'10" to 8'0". Beyond regular lessons, surf safaris take guests to different breaks around the island, introducing them to Gran Canaria's diverse coastlines and surf conditions.
