Free Surf Maroc, founded by musician Tom Frager, has been welcoming surfers to the Tamraght-Taghazout region for over 15 years. Located at kilometer 14 on the Essaouira road near Agadir, this authentic surf camp offers year-round access to some of Morocco's best waves.
The region is ranked as the world's third-best destination for learning to surf, blessed with 300 days of sunshine annually and consistent world-class waves suitable for all levels. From the gentle beach breaks perfect for beginners to the powerful point breaks of Anchor Point and Killer Point for experienced surfers, the playground is vast and varied.
The surf camp itself is a traditional Moroccan riad featuring rooms and apartments decorated with local artisan craftsmanship - Tadelakt walls, handcrafted wooden furniture, and authentic zellige tiles. The atmosphere blends surf culture with Moroccan hospitality, complete with occasional live music sessions from Tom Frager and visiting musicians.
Beyond surfing, guests can explore the Paradise Valley with its natural pools and waterfalls, visit the honey route and local apiaries, wander through the colorful souks, or try sand dune surfing on excursions to Imesouane - home to one of Africa's longest waves.
