Freebirds Hostel started as a 10-bed surf house and grew into what it is today through years of hard work and genuine hospitality. El Mehdi Couthar, the founder, spent years traveling across Morocco by foot and hitchhiking before building a place where travelers could feel the same warmth and connection he found on the road. The surf house sits in Tamraght, a traditional fishing village between Agadir and Taghazout. Guests stay in cozy shared or private rooms with access to a rooftop terrace where most evenings end with mint tea, stories, and sunset views. Marockanz Coffee operates just downstairs, adding to the community vibe. Surf lessons run daily with certified instructors who know every wave in Taghazout Bay. Equipment is always included, and transport takes surfers to the best spots based on conditions. The 7-day package is the bestseller, combining five surf days with two yoga sessions and a local excursion to Paradise Valley or sunset sandboarding. Freebirds also welcomes digital nomads with reliable Wi-Fi, private rooms, and a dedicated work-life balance program that includes weekend surf and yoga sessions.
