PatuLeft Surf Camp occupies a secluded corner of the Sinaloan coast, about an hour from Mazatlan International Airport near the fishing village of Celestino Gasca. The surf season runs from April through November, when tropical storms consistently deliver quality waves to this stretch of coast. Morning conditions typically feature offshore winds that hold until early afternoon, creating clean, zippy lefts that can range from playful to pumping depending on the swell. Outside of peak season, the waves mellow out, making December through March ideal for beginners, families, and those who want to mix surfing with fishing or exploring the nearby nature reserve. The camp operates with a strong eco-conscious philosophy. Food comes from local sources, and the construction uses sustainable materials and practices. Twenty minutes away, the Meseta Cacaxtla Nature Reserve - known as the "Mecca of ecotourism in Sinaloa" - offers hiking trails through habitat that supports over 300 migratory bird species, various reptiles, and even wild jaguars. When you're not surfing, the options include inshore bottom fishing (species like snook, grouper, red snapper, and roosterfish), deep-sea charters for marlin and tuna, hiking the reserve trails, or simply hanging by the beach watching the sunset.
