Awera Island Surf Camp

Awera Island Surf Camp sits on its own private island in the southern Mentawai region, offering access to over 15 high-quality waves all within 30 minutes by boat. The camp is positioned directly in front of Suicides, just a 150-meter paddle through the channel. This quieter zone means less crowded lineups and more waves for guests. Between April and October, the Mentawais deliver some of the most consistent surf on the planet. While massive ten-foot swells hit several times per season, the typical wave range sits between three to six feet. The camp's surf guide has over 14 years of experience in this specific region, with deep knowledge of tides, swell direction, and wind patterns to get guests on the right waves. The lodge offers charming beachfront accommodation with fans and mosquito nets. Three nutritious meals daily feature locally sourced ingredients and quality Sumatran coffee. The comfortable lounge has a daybed, hammocks scattered throughout, WiFi, and a library of books and magazines. Cold beers, soft drinks, laundry service, and internet access are available for an additional cost.
