Honu Honi Surf Camp

Honu Honi is not your average surf camp. Founded by Becks, a passionate surfer and certified instructor, the camp has carved out a niche teaching adults how to surf on Australia's iconic Great Ocean Road. The name comes from a chance encounter in Hawaii; while snorkeling off Oahu, Becks was approached by a green sea turtle that swam up and gave her a gentle headbutt before diving back into the ocean. "Honu Honi" translates to "turtle kiss" in Hawaiian, and that sense of connection with the ocean runs through everything they do here. What sets Honu Honi apart is their focus on adults. The H.H.SURF Method is designed specifically for grown-up learners, taking them from complete beginners to surfers who can paddle into and ride along unbroken waves. The goal is not just standing on a board but becoming a real "ocean dweller" who understands the sea. The camp operates from a glamping setup inside Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park, putting guests right on the beach. Days follow a rhythm: morning yoga, surf sessions with small groups, incredible meals prepared fresh at camp, and evenings spent under the stars sharing stories with fellow guests. Environmental responsibility is baked into the operation. They hold sustainable tourism certification and actively work on environmental regeneration projects. The team also pays respect to the First Nations people who have called this land home for thousands of years, seeking their guidance in how they operate. The camp has been recognized with Victorian Tourism Awards and is a member of Surfing Victoria's accredited surf school program.
